Last week I met with a salesman. He pitched me a product that until recently I would not have even considered. I had no issue with the product, in fact, I rather liked it. The problem was that I had someone I already purchased this product from. I had a longstanding and positive relationship with my current sales rep. I was loyal. But just last month, my salesman moved. I was now open to buying from someone new. Why was I so previously loyal? My guy wasn’t necessarily cheaper. The easy answer is the relationship we had. I knew if there was a problem, my salesman could be easily reached. He was very responsive and we had grown to know each other over the years. It goes with any walk of life, building positive relationships will yield positive results. I don’t look forward to getting to know a new salesman, but I will. Who knows, he might be even better than the last guy….
